About SEF

Super Estates Foundation EXHIBIT

Super Estates Foundation is the non-profit arm of EXHIBIT formed to promote the design and heritage of social housing. In specific it seeks to support social innovation and enterprise development that foster sustainable living.

The foundation itself was inspired by a love of the Golden Lane Estate and was a homage to its architects Chamberlin, Powell & Bon.  As part of a wider celebration highlighting the estate’s 50th anniversary (1962-2012), EXHIBIT curated a series of community art projects. The eclectic range of work that resulted engaged both local residents and international artists, stimulating a response to the estate’s design legacy and ultimately contributing to its artistic archive.

With dedicated support from volunteers and professionals, the SEF is committed to promoting a strong sense of “local community” through the use of art and design in ways that are truly participatory and democratic.
